Synopsis: “After being asked for a favour from his mobster uncle, Dom and Maria have their date take an unexpected turn. Now tasked with disposing of a dead body, the two are unprepared for what the night holds in store for them both.”

I had originally been brought onto the Tough Guy team not only as audio editor, but also as the recordist. Unfortunately a COVID scare on a previous shoot prevented me from being able to fulfill my role. A few weeks later, when I received the audio takes, I was warned by the director that they were riddled with issues. Tasked with restoring these files for cinema screening, the experience was certainly challenging.
Working with the RX-7 audio restoration suite, I diligently attempted to salvage what I could from the recordings. Hours were spent meticulously adjusting levels, attempting to clean up the distortion, and aligning the timing of the dialogue. While the final result was an improvement compared to the original, I couldn't help but feel limited by the quality of the source material. Despite my efforts, the restored audio still lacked a certain quality of consistency one would hope for in a theatrical production. Nevertheless, I believe the audience will subconsciously appreciate the strides made in enhancement.
