"Stuck" marked a significant milestone as my debut in directing a narrative film. Its silent, black & white format allowed me to focus on aspects beyond color and audio. However, the absence of dialogue and the use of a camera designed seven decades ago for an entirely different medium presented unique challenges. After receiving the script from writer Trinity Wong, we embarked on storyboarding and casting, collaborating with ACTRA and conducting online auditions to select suitable actors.

Our film's contained indoor setting spared us weather-related concerns and lighting adjustments, but it demanded meticulous light level readings for proper filmstock exposure. Working closely with Director of Photography Andrew Scott, I translated our storyboarded vision into reality. Directing the actors was equally crucial, given our limited film supply. Each take was rehearsed until the desired emotion was captured before rolling.

Post-development, the film underwent digital scanning and editing. It was a gratifying moment when we finally saw the fruits of our labor, especially considering the dark subject matter that required a sensitive approach. Mandy's performance was exceptional, and my role as the editor was to enhance her work. The film possesses a dreamlike quality as it swiftly traverses different times and places, mirroring the protagonist’s fragmented understanding of love and loyalty.
